The EGR problem is well known and documented. As Mixman says unless they have some proof they can’t really do anything but that does not mean they need to see the EM light or any code. If you have seem the EM light come on and the car has been into limp home mode that would /should be good enough for a VX dealer.

Having a bit of a nightmare with my 2012 insignia. Ready to give it a good kicking. Car kept going into limp mode on a daily basis with a "service your vehicle" warning. The EGR Cooler body is situated just below and slightly to the right of the yellow dipstick holder shown in the picture below. The first thing is to ensure there is plenty of light! Also place a large drip tray under the car, the under tray will get in the way here, so be quick when coolant gushes out.

mokka egr valve needs replaced. I have a regularly serviced mokka with only 29000 miles on the clock. Took it to the garage/dealer who advised that the fault was the egr valve and the cost to clean out and replace it was just short of £2000. (This was reduced to just short of £1500 as I had joined the vauxhall service club)

l have fitted a egr blanking plate (£4 on ebay) to my Astra Mk4 W reg 1600cc and car runs prefect now and l have no ECU warning light coming on, to achieve this remove the egr valve and fit your blanking plate (not home made flimsy tin one) now postion the egr valve still connected to elecs nearby and secure, valve will still operate unhindered ok, or you can fit the blank plate and then put

Looking in where the injectors fit you should be able to see down to the injector seat. Imagine looking into a short piece of pipe with a plate on one end with a hole drilled in the centre of the plate. All four should have the same size hole at the end. If one is larger or not a neat round hole this suggests damage.
